Biography

In the late 2010s, Makhadzi (born Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona in 1996) emerged as a prominent figure in Limpopo's dance music scene. Initially gaining recognition as a busker in the early 2010s, she garnered regional acclaim through live performances and hand-selling CDs, primarily featuring wedding songs. Makhadzi transitioned to mainstream success in 2019 with the release of "Matorokisi," a track that embraced the bolobedu house sound popular in the province, characterized by auto-tuned vocals and synth-heavy beats. The song, featured on her second album of the same name, also spawned a viral dance challenge and showcased collaboration with bolobedu icon DJ Call Me.

In 2021, Makhadzi further expanded her musical repertoire by incorporating the trending amapiano style in her album "African Queen." This release broke records as the most streamed album by a South African female artist, solidifying her reputation as a prolific hitmaker known for her dynamic stage presence.
