Formed in 1996 in the Ivory Coast, Afro-pop quartet Magic System quickly rose to fame with their energetic live performances and hit songs like "Momo" and "1er Gaou." With the help of talent scout Claude Bassolet, the group gained popularity in Africa before expanding their reach to France and the French-speaking Caribbean. Their collaborations with Bob Sinclar on tracks like "1er Gaou" solidified their status as leading ambassadors of Afro-pop.
In the following years, Magic System continued to release successful albums like Poisson d'Avril and Cessa Kié la Vérité, earning spots on international music charts and performing for large audiences worldwide. Their 2007 release, Ki Dit Mie, topped world music charts across Europe, further cementing their reputation as one of the most influential African music acts. In the years that followed, Magic System released Toutè Kalé in 2011 and D'Abidjan à Paris in 2012, continuing their legacy as pioneers of Afro-pop music.
