Spain-based producer Eric Estornel, also known as Maceo Plex, transitioned from festival-friendly house music to a darker, more introspective sound over the years. Beginning his career as Maetrik and exploring abstract electro as Mariel Ito, Estornel's Maceo Plex project evolved from deep house to a more dramatic style, releasing music on labels like Crosstown Rebels and Kompakt. Collaborations with Faithless, Liberty City, and Johnny Jewel followed in the early 2020s.
Born in Texas in 1978, Estornel made a name for himself in the techno and electro scenes before focusing on Maceo Plex in 2010. His releases like "Vibe Your Love" and the album "Life Index" garnered success, leading to a more experimental phase with EPs like "Space Junk" and the ambitious full-length "Solar." Continuing to explore new sounds, Maceo Plex collaborated with various artists and released tracks like "Insomnia 2021" and "Surgery" in recent years.
