Lou Rawls

Lou Rawls, born in Chicago on December 1, 1933, was a versatile master of African-American vocal music, seamlessly transitioning from gospel and jazz to soul and pop. His four-octave vocal range and classy elegance, reminiscent of Sam Cooke and Nat King Cole, set him apart in the music industry. Rawls' career included successful stints at Capitol Records and Philadelphia International, where he found his biggest hits with songs like "Love Is a Hurtin' Thing" and "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine."

Rawls' impactful career extended beyond music, as he pursued acting, voice-over work, and extensive charity efforts for the United Negro College Fund.
