Biography
Liam Lynch, known for his work on MTV's The Sifl and Olly Show with sock puppets, studied guitar with an ex-Beatle in Liverpool. Lynch and Crocco met as kids in Ohio, eventually creating skits together that led to the show's early concept. Lynch transitioned from music publishing to studying at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, founded by Sir Paul McCartney, where he was personally chosen to study guitar.
In the mid-'90s, Lynch and Crocco's sock-puppet characters gained fame with MTV Europe before the show expanded to the U.S. Sifl and Olly only lasted two seasons on MTV before gaining a cult following, especially with the hit song "United States of Whatever." Lynch's music career took off with the release of Fake Songs in 2003, and he also ventured into film with a project involving Tenacious D.
