Les Rita Mitsouko, a French pop duo of the 1980s, comprised of Catherine Ringer and Fred Chichin, emerged from the Parisian new wave scene, blending punk, jazz, electronic, and musical theater influences. Their diverse work included collaborations with filmmakers, fashion designers, and artists like Sparks and Iggy Pop. After Chichin's passing in 2007, Ringer continued her music career under her own name, releasing a live album in 2008 and the band's catalog was honored with a box set in 2019.

Formed in 1979 after meeting on a theater production, Les Rita Mitsouko quickly established themselves in the music scene, gaining popularity with their highly stylized look and minimalist art-pop sound. Their debut album in 1984, followed by successful releases like The No Comprendo in 1986, propelled them to European mainstream success. Despite Chichin's untimely death, their legacy lives on through their influential music and collaborations, solidifying their place in music history.
