Les Negresses Vertes blend punk influences with Latin, rai, and folk music to create an infectious dance sound. Despite starting as non-instrumentalists in late-1987, the band has evolved into an exciting ensemble, overcoming challenges like the loss of lyricist Noel Rota, known as "Helno," in 1993 due to a drug addiction. Guitarist/vocalist Stefane Mellion and accordionist/vocalist Matthias Canavese have since stepped into Rota's role alongside other talented members like Ritter Thierry and Jean-Marie Paulus.
