Las Jilguerillas, the renowned ranchera duo from Michoacan, Mexico, have been celebrated as one of the country's finest musical treasures for over four decades. Sisters Imelda and Amparo Higuera, discovered by the famous duo Dueto America, have stayed true to rural styles such as ranchera, banda, son, and corridos throughout their extensive career, collaborating with esteemed musicians like Gilberto Parra and Cornelio Reyna. Despite Imelda's passing in 2004, she was succeeded by Cornelio Reyna's widow, the esteemed vocalist Mercedes Castro, ensuring the duo's enduring legacy in the world of mariachi and ranchera music.
