Laidback Luke, also known as Luke van Scheppingen, rose to prominence in the underground music scene with his house and techno releases in the 1990s before transitioning to a more mainstream EDM sound in the 21st century. Drawing inspiration from Chicago and New York house as well as Detroit techno, he gained recognition with his early singles and debut album, Electronic Satisfaction, in 2002. Throughout the 2000s and 2010s, he solidified his status as a leading artist in the EDM scene, collaborating with top acts like Swedish House Mafia and Avicii and achieving commercial success with hits like the 2008 version of "Show Me Love" by Robin S.
Born in the Philippines and raised in the Netherlands, Laidback Luke's musical journey began when he discovered his passion for dance music after a chance encounter with Dutch DJ Dobre. With a basic production setup, he released his first 12" in 1995 and quickly gained acclaim for his infectious blend of house and techno. As his career progressed, he embraced a more electro-house sound and collaborated with notable artists such as Steve Angello and Swedish House Mafia. Continuing to evolve with the dance music scene, Laidback Luke remained a prominent figure, releasing chart-topping singles and remixes well into the 2010s, culminating in the 2015 album Focus.
