Krishna Das, born Jeffrey Kagel, is an American singer known for merging Hindu devotional music with Western influences, popularizing the traditional kirtan chant on a global scale. After a transformative encounter with spiritual leader Ram Dass in 1968, Das delved into Indian spirituality, eventually studying under Guru Mahara-ji in northern India. Returning to the U.S. in 1972, he dedicated himself to Bhakti yoga and the practice of kirtan.

In 1990, Das founded Triloka Records, a prominent label in world music, releasing his own albums like "One Track Heart" and "Pilgrim Heart" featuring collaborations with artists such as Sting. Over the years, he continued to produce a diverse range of music, including Grammy-nominated live recordings and albums like "Kirtan Wallah" and "Trust in the Heart," showcasing his unique blend of American rock and traditional devotional music.
