Kenny Burrell

Kenny Burrell, a Detroit-born jazz guitarist, rose to prominence in the mid-'50s with his bebop and blues-infused style. Influenced by artists like Charlie Christian and Django Reinhardt, Burrell became a sought-after sideman, performing with notable musicians such as Dizzy Gillespie and John Coltrane. Moving to New York City in 1956, he established himself as a leading guitarist, recording with legends like Coltrane, Kenny Dorham, and Billie Holiday.

In the following decades, Burrell continued to record and perform, releasing albums like "Midnight Blue" and "Blues – The Common Ground." He also ventured into teaching, leading seminars on Duke Ellington's music and founding the Jazz Studies Program at UCLA. Burrell's later works include live albums such as "Be Yourself: Live at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola" and "The Road to Love," showcasing his enduring influence and talent in the jazz world.
