He took a hiatus from music in the late '70s but made a comeback with collaborations with Emmylou Harris and the Seldom Scene before releasing solo albums in the '80s and '90s.

After a successful career in the '70s, Jonathan Edwards experienced a decline in sales before taking a break from music and moving to Nova Scotia. He made a return to the music scene in the '80s with collaborations and solo projects, finding success with country hits like "We Need to Be Locked Away." Edwards continued to release albums and perform live, showcasing his talent in both concert and studio recordings.
