Johnny Mathis

Johnny Mathis, a traditional male vocalist from the pre-rock era, found success with romantic jazz and pop standards in the '60s and '70s. With over a dozen gold or platinum albums and more than 60 charting LPs, Mathis diversified his style from show tunes to soft rock, R&B, and country, remaining a popular concert draw well into the 21st century. His collaboration with Deniece Williams on "Too Much, Too Little, Too Late" in 1978 marked his second number one single, leading to further duets with various artists.

Continuing his prolific career into the 2000s, Mathis released a range of albums, from Broadway to holiday collections to a Grammy-nominated country music effort. His 2017 release, "Johnny Mathis Sings the Great New American Songbook," showcased his take on contemporary hits by artists like Adele and Josh Groban. The following year, Legacy issued a comprehensive 68-CD box set covering Mathis' complete Columbia discography, including the previously unreleased album "I Love My Lady," produced by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards in 1981.
