Héroes del Silencio, a Spanish rock band formed in 1985, gained prominence in the rock en español genre between 1987 and 1995. Led by singer/songwriter Enrique Bunbury, the band's music evolved from a blend of post-punk, Gothic, Celtic, and Spanish folk influences to a more riff-heavy hard rock sound. Their albums, including El Mar No Cesa and Avalancha, achieved multi-platinum status and topped charts in various countries. Despite a temporary split in 1996, the band reunited for a successful tour in 2007 and were the subject of a documentary film in 2021.
Originally formed as Zumo de Vidrio, Héroes del Silencio solidified their lineup in 1985 with members Enrique Bunbury, Juan Valdivia, Joaquin Cardiel, and Pedro Andreu. Their debut EP, Héroe de Leyenda, and subsequent albums garnered commercial success, with hits like "Mar Adentro" and "La Chispa Adecuada." Internal conflicts and external pressures led to the band's temporary disbandment in 1996, but they regrouped for a reunion tour in 2007. The band's legacy was further celebrated with a documentary film and soundtrack in 2021.
