Enya, born Eithne Ní Bhraonáin, hails from Gweedore, County Donegal, Ireland. She began her music career as a member of the band Clannad in 1980 before venturing into solo work with producer Nicky Ryan and lyricist Roma Ryan. Enya's album Watermark in 1988 marked the start of her international success, selling eight million copies worldwide.
Following her departure from Clannad in 1982, Enya collaborated with the Ryans on various projects, leading to the release of her solo album in 1986. Her subsequent albums, including Shepherd Moons in 1991 and Memory of Trees in 1995, continued to garner commercial success. Enya's eighth album, Dark Sky Island, released in 2015, showcased her enduring collaboration with the Ryans and marked a return to the spotlight after a six-year hiatus.
