Raised in Mississippi and later moving to Chicago, she drew inspiration from artists like Ruth Brown and Dinah Washington. LaSalle's big break came in 1971 with her hit "Trapped by a Thing Called Love," leading to a successful career with labels like Westbound, ABC Records, and Malaco Records. Despite facing challenges with promotions, she continued to perform and release albums until her passing in 2018 at the age of 78 in Jackson, Tennessee.

LaSalle's career spanned several labels, including notable releases with Malaco Records, as well as gospel crossover material with Ordena Records.
