Biography

Originally labeled as deep-house producers, the Iranian-American duo Deep Dish expanded their sound to incorporate trance, techno, and dub influences, creating a diverse range of club hits throughout the 1990s. Founders Ali "Dubfire" Shirazinia and Sharam Tayebi established Deep Dish Records in 1992, quickly gaining recognition within the dance community for their tight programming and genre-blending abilities. By the mid-90s, they were dominating the D.C. house scene and earning remix opportunities for high-profile artists like Michael Jackson and Madonna.

In 2001, Deep Dish received their first Grammy nomination for Remixer of the Year and continued to achieve critical acclaim with subsequent releases and mix albums. Despite pursuing solo projects for over a decade, the duo reunited in 2014 with the single "Quincy" and a broadcast on BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix. Deep Dish's legacy as pioneers of the house music scene remains influential, showcasing their evolution from local DJs to international dance music icons.
