Biography

Dance Hall Crashers, a ska-punk band from Berkeley, California, emerged from the iconic Operation Ivy with initial leadership from Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman before transitioning to Elyse Rogers and Jason Hammon. Following their formation in 1989 and several lineup changes, the band found success after their reunion gig in 1992. With a permanent lineup featuring Rogers, Karina Denike, the Hammon brothers, Scott Goodell, and Mikey Weiss, Dance Hall Crashers released albums such as Lockjaw, Honey I'm Homely, Purr, and The Live Record.

The band's early singles were compiled in The Old Record before they signed with MCA's 510 division, marking the start of a series of releases that included Blue Plate Special EP, Purr, and The Live Record: Witless Banter and 25 Mildly Antagonistic Songs About Love. Dance Hall Crashers' sound evolved over the years, blending ska and punk influences into a distinct musical style that garnered a loyal fan base and critical acclaim.
