Dag Nasty, formed by Brian Baker and Dave Smalley in the mid-'80s, maintained the hardcore punk sound of D.C. with their accessible yet intense music. After releasing their debut album, Can I Say, in 1986, the band saw lineup changes and explored more melodic elements with vocalist Peter Cortner. Moving from Dischord to Giant Records, they released Field Day in 1988 before briefly disbanding. Dag Nasty regrouped in 1992 with Four on the Floor and later returned in 2002 with Minority of One, showcasing a renewed punk energy. In 2010, Dischord released Dag with Shawn, featuring early recordings with the band's original vocalist, Shawn Brown.
