In 1982, Kevin Scott Macmichael and Nick Van Eede met in Halifax and later formed Cutting Crew. After signing with Virgin Records, they released their debut album "Broadcast" in 1986, which included the hit single "(I Just) Died In Your Arms." The band went on to have six Billboard-charting singles and toured with notable acts such as The Bangles and Huey Lewis & The News. Despite setbacks with their third album, Cutting Crew continued to release music and tour, with Van Eede leading the band after Macmichael's passing in 2002.

Following their successful debut album, Cutting Crew had multiple hits and a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. Despite challenges with their third album, the band persevered and released new music with Gareth Moulton on guitar. Their later albums, including "Grinning Souls" and "Add to Favourites," showcased their enduring presence in the music industry as they continued to tour internationally with acts like Go West and A Flock Of Seagulls.
