Crazy Town, led by Seth "Shifty Shellshock" Binzer and Bret "Epic" Mazur, blended hip-hop attitude with rock instrumentation to achieve a number one hit in 2001 with "Butterfly" from their platinum-selling debut album, The Gift of Game. The group's music and image were influenced by the contrasting sociocultural landscape of Los Angeles. Despite subsequent releases in 2002 and 2015, Crazy Town struggled to replicate their initial success.

Growing up in Southern California, Mazur and Binzer were immersed in music, eventually forming Crazy Town after stints in other projects. The band, including members like DJ AM and Rust Epique, achieved global success with their debut album but disbanded in 2003. Reuniting in 2015 under their former name Brimstone Sluggers, the group continued to tour and release music, with their final EP, Flirting With Disaster, arriving in 2024 before Binzer's untimely passing later that year.
