Cosmin TRG, born in Romania and based in Berlin, rose to fame with his debut release for dubstep label Hessle Audio in 2007. Influenced by Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, and Orbital, Nicolae's transition to producing his own music led to collaborations with prominent DJs like Ramadanman and releases on labels such as Tempa and Hotflush, evolving his sound to incorporate elements of house and techno.

Following a name change to Cosmin TRG in 2010, Nicolae's musical focus shifted towards techno with the release of Tower Block on Hemlock Recordings. A move to Berlin and signing with Modeselektor's 50 Weapons label marked a new chapter in his career, culminating in the release of his debut album Simulat in 2011, blending techno, dub, and house influences. His follow-up album, Gordian in 2013, further explored the realms of techno while drawing inspiration from iconic dance labels like Warp Records.
