Coroner, originally roadies for Celtic Frost, emerged as pioneers in European thrash metal with their intricate compositions and technical prowess. Despite limited commercial success, their fearless experimentation led to enduring albums that defied thrash metal boundaries and earned them the title of the Rush of thrash metal.

Formed in 1985 by former Celtic Frost roadies Tommy T. Baron, Marquis Marky, and Ron Royce, Coroner signed with Noise Records and released standout albums like R.I.P. and Punishment for Decadence. Their golden era peaked with the groundbreaking Mental Vortex in 1991, showcasing their technical proficiency and musical evolution. Despite facing challenges in the changing music landscape, the band continued to push boundaries with the unconventional Grin in 1993 before disbanding. In 2016, Coroner announced their return with a new studio album in the works, signifying a revival of their innovative thrash metal legacy.
