Biography
Control Machete is a Mexican rap group from Monterrey, Nuevo León, consisting of members Fermin IV, Pato Machete, and Toy Selectah. Formed in 1995 by Selectah, they were one of the first Mexican rap groups to achieve commercial success, with their music reaching radio stations and various TV channels such as MTV, Telehit, Televisa, Canal de la Música, and Canal A.
In 1996, they released their debut album "Mucho Barato" in Mexico, featuring tracks like "Cheve," "Andamos Armados," and the hit single "Comprendes, Mendes?" which gained them recognition on MTV. The following year, they launched the album internationally and embarked on tours in countries like Chile, Argentina, the United States, and Spain, sharing stages with artists such as Violadores Del Verso, Rahzel (The Roots), Delinquent Habits, C.P.V., 7 Notas 7 Colores, and others. "Mucho Barato" sold 500,000 copies across Latin America and was produced by Jason Roberts, known for his work with Cypress Hill, House of Pain, and Akwid, among others.
