Biography

Formed in 1991 in Maryland, Clutch blended funk, Led Zeppelin, and metal influences with vocals reminiscent of Faith No More. After gaining a local following, they signed with EastWest Records and released their debut LP, Transnational Speedway League, in 1993. The band's subsequent albums, including the self-titled release and Elephant Riders on Columbia Records, garnered mainstream attention but didn't propel them to alternative metal stardom. Despite this, Clutch maintained a dedicated fan base, releasing albums like Pure Rock Fury, Blast Tyrant, and Robot Hive/Exodus, showcasing their unique sound. The band's extensive discography also includes side releases such as 2000's Jam Room and rarities collections like Slow Hole to China, alongside live albums like Live at the Googolplex.

In 2007, Clutch worked with producer Joe Barresi on From Beale Street to Oblivion, followed by Full Fathom Five: Audio Field Recordings 2007-2008 and Strange Cousins from the West in 2009. Their tenth album, Earth Rocker, marked a chart success, leading to further touring and the release of Psychic Warfare in 2015. Throughout their career, Clutch has stayed true to their distinctive sound, blending different musical elements to create a loyal fan base and a lasting impact on the rock scene.
