Chubb Rock

Chubb Rock, a prominent rap artist of the late '80s and early '90s, was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He gained recognition for his dynamic flow and imposing presence, signing with the Select label and releasing his debut album in 1988 with Hitman Howie Tee. Chubb Rock's career peaked with the success of his 1991 hit single "Treat 'Em Right" from his album The One, which reached the number one spot on the rap charts and became a staple on MTV.

In the '90s, Chubb Rock continued to release music and collaborated with other artists such as Jeru the Damaja and O.C. He contributed tracks to various projects, including the Clockers soundtrack and compilations like America Is Dying Slowly. Despite a decrease in activity later in his career, Chubb Rock remained a respected figure in the hip-hop community, releasing his final album for Select in 1997 and making occasional appearances on other artists' projects in the following years.
