Cherrelle

Cherrelle, born Cheryl Norton in 1958, rose to fame under Clarence Avant's Tabu label, initially collaborating with producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. With hits like "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On" and "Saturday Love" in the mid-1980s, Cherrelle established herself as an R&B powerhouse. Her third album featured the successful duet "Never Knew Love Like This" with Alexander O'Neal, followed by hits like "Everything I Miss at Home" and the title track.

Following her Tabu years, Cherrelle released The Woman I Am in 1988, featuring production from Narada Michael Walden and Derek Bramble. Despite subsequent collaborations with Pebbles and Alexander O'Neal, her releases became sporadic until 1999's The Right Time. Cherrelle's enduring presence in the music scene included tours and reissued Tabu albums in 2013, showcasing her lasting impact on R&B.
