Charlie Feathers

Charlie Feathers was a versatile musician known for his unique blend of country, blues, and bluegrass that defined the rockabilly genre. Born near Slayden, MS, Feathers moved to Memphis in 1950 and worked his way into Sam Phillips' Memphis Recording Service, eventually releasing his first single "Peepin' Eyes" on the Flip label. He later signed with King Records and recorded several rockabilly classics, solidifying his status as a legend in the genre. Despite health issues, Feathers continued to record and perform for his devoted European fan base until his passing in 1998 at the age of 66.

Feathers' influence grew during the rockabilly revival in the '70s, with collectors clamoring for his old records and interviews delving into his Sun Records days. Despite never achieving mainstream success in the '50s, Feathers' music spoke volumes, showcasing his talent and originality. His legacy lives on as a true American music original, celebrated for his contributions to rock and country music.
