Composer and producer Daniel Rosenfeld, known as C418, gained recognition through his work on the popular independent video game Minecraft, which amassed 100 million users within two and a half years of its original PC release. Beyond Minecraft Volume Alpha in 2011, Rosenfeld's discography includes albums like 72 Minutes of Fame (2011) and One (2012) featuring tech-house and IDM tracks, as well as the vocal-driven dance-pop of 148 (2015) and the downtempo sounds of Dief (2017).
Born in East Germany before reunification, Rosenfeld honed his music production skills using digital audio workstations like Ableton Live, starting to release music online as early as 2006. His early instrumental releases showcased a range of electronic styles, drawing comparisons to ambient music pioneers like Brian Eno and Roedelius. Rosenfeld retained ownership of his Minecraft compositions, with Minecraft Volume Alpha reissued by Ghostly International in 2015. His diverse output continued with releases like 148 (2015), collaborations with artists such as Disasterpeace and Laura Shigihara, and the studio album Excursions (2018), which featured the single "Breton."
