BOØWY

Boøwy, a prominent band in Japan during the '80s, faced challenges in establishing themselves due to the resistance of the Japanese record industry against their self-managed approach. Formed in 1979 by founding members Himuro Kyosuke and Hotei Tomoyasu, the band underwent several lineup changes before achieving success with their breakthrough album in 1985. Despite industry obstacles, Boøwy's popularity grew through their energetic live performances, eventually leading to a contract with Toshiba EMI. The band disbanded in 1987, following internal tensions, after achieving immense success in Japan.
