Biography
Bonny Cepeda, the first merengue artist to receive a Grammy nomination in 1985, is a highly successful dance musician from the Dominican Republic. A former member of Wilfredo Vargas' orchestra, Cepeda has led various groups including Los Hijos del Rey and Bonny Con Keaton, while also producing albums for artists like Sergio Vargas and Rikarena. Born Fernando Antonio Cruz Paz, Cepeda honed his musical skills studying piano at Villa Consuelo music school and later at the National Conservatory in Santo Domingo.
His prolific career has seen him release over 30 albums and collaborate with a wide range of artists. Cepeda's influence extends beyond his own music, as he has also produced recordings for notable artists such as Willie Berrios and El Grupo Chantelle. Born into a musical family, with vocalist Anan Cepeda as his father and multi-instrumentalist Richard Cepeda as his nephew, Bonny Cepeda's legacy in the merengue genre is firmly established.
