Biosphere

Hailing from Tromsø, Norway, Geir Jenssen is the mastermind behind Biosphere. After his time with the group Bel Canto, Jenssen ventured into solo work under the aliases Bleep and Biosphere, pioneering ambient techno with releases like The North Pole by Submarine and Microgravity in the early '90s. Collaborating with artists like Pete Namlook and Higher Intelligence Agency, Jenssen continued to innovate with albums like Patashnik and Substrata, solidifying his reputation as a genre-defying electronic musician.

Throughout the 2000s, Jenssen released a series of albums on the Touch label, including Cirque and Shenzhou, showcasing his diverse influences from Debussy to minimalist drone music. Venturing into concept albums with N-Plants and exploring archival releases on his own Biophon Records, Jenssen's sonic explorations continued with projects like Stator and Departed Glories under Smalltown Supersound. The mini-album The Petrified Forest in 2017 further showcased Jenssen's cinematic inspiration and continued evolution as an ambient music pioneer.
