Born in Christchurch in 1976, Bic Runga quickly rose to stardom in her native New Zealand, showcasing her musical talents from a young age. After making her Sony label debut with the hit single "Drive" in 1995, she garnered widespread acclaim, including the prestigious 1996 Silver Scroll Award for songwriting excellence. Runga's self-produced debut album, Drive, solidified her position as a top artist in New Zealand, leading to international success and multiple platinum certifications.

Throughout the late '90s and early 2000s, Runga continued to captivate audiences with her music, releasing successful albums like Beautiful Collision and Birds.
