Biography

Belly, fronted by Tanya Donelly, emerged in 1992 blending pop hooks with psych-influenced melodies. Their hit single "Feed the Tree" and gold-selling debut album, Star, propelled them into mainstream success. After disbanding in 1996, the group reunited in 2016 for a tour and released an album in 2018.

Donelly formed Belly with Fred Abong, Chris Gorman, and Tom Gorman after leaving Throwing Muses in 1991. Their debut EP, Slow Dust, topped the British indie charts, leading to the successful release of Star in 1993. Despite King's mixed reviews in 1994, Belly continued to make music individually until reuniting in 2016 for new material and a successful 2018 album release.
