Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra

Established in 1949, the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks (BRSO) quickly gained international acclaim, solidifying its reputation as one of the top orchestras worldwide. Throughout its history, the BRSO has been led by renowned Chief Conductors including Eugen Jochum, Rafael Kubelík, Sir Colin Davis, Lorin Maazel, and Mariss Jansons. Under Maestro Jansons' leadership, the orchestra received accolades such as a Grammy win for Shostakovich’s 13th Symphony and recognition from Gramophone as one of the top ten orchestras globally. In 2021, Sir Simon Rattle was announced as the incoming chief conductor starting from the 2023/2024 season, succeeding Mariss Jansons.

The BRSO's discography includes numerous acclaimed recordings, with standout releases like Shostakovich’s Tenth Symphony receiving critical praise and awards. The orchestra continues to receive accolades, with the album "Mariss Jansons – His Last Concert" earning the Choc de Classica in February 2021.
