Atari Teenage Riot

Atari Teenage Riot, a Berlin hardcore group formed in 1992 by Alec Empire, Hanin Elias, and Carl Crack, emerged as part of a new wave of German techno artists aiming to infuse music with political radicalism. Their confrontational sound, blending elements of speed metal, acid, jungle, and hardcore punk, garnered attention for its high-energy, politically charged message. After parting ways with a major label in 1993, the band founded Digital Hardcore Recordings (DHR) in 1994, becoming a hub for like-minded artists and releasing albums such as Delete Yourself and The Future of War. Despite facing setbacks, including Crack's untimely passing in 2001, ATR regrouped over the years, with their lineup evolving to include new members and releasing albums like Is This Hyperreal? and Reset.

ATR's pioneering fusion of hardcore punk and techno, driven by their uncompromising political stance, set them apart in the music scene. The band's journey through various record labels and lineup changes reflects their resilience and commitment to their vision.
