Assemblage 23

Seattle-based Tom Shear founded Assemblage 23 after being inspired by industrial sounds at a Depeche Mode concert in 1988. Initially releasing music under different aliases, Shear self-released Wires in 1992 before signing with Gashed in 1998 and later with Metropolis in 2001. Assemblage 23 gained popularity in dance clubs with albums like Contempt (1999), Failure (2001), and Meta (2007), featuring the hit single "Binary."

Throughout the years, Assemblage 23 continued to release new music, including Defiance (2002), Storm (2003), Compass (2009), and Endure (2017). The band's discography also includes compilations like Early, Rare, and Unreleased (2007) and Bruise (2012), showcasing their evolution from punk and synth pop influences to a mature blend of electro and industrial dance music.
