Biography

Aquilo, comprised of Ben Fletcher and Tom Higham, originated in the coastal Lake District village of Silverdale in northern England. After Tom returned home from university in Leeds and started working at a factory, he and Ben began collaborating on music in the evenings. Their first track, "Calling Me," gained popularity after Tom uploaded it to Soundcloud, reaching No. 1 on Hype Machine.

The duo later relocated to London, where they released their debut album ‘Silhouettes’ in 2017, working with producers SOHN and Ólafur Arnalds. Following the success of their first album, Aquilo self-produced their second album ‘ii’ within a year. After a hiatus to refine their musical direction, they returned with the EP ‘Sober’, emphasizing their belief in drawing inspiration from community rather than business ties.
