Biography

Anthrax played a significant role in the development of speed and thrash metal alongside Metallica and Megadeth. Formed in the early '80s, the band's blend of hardcore punk and heavy metal on early albums helped define a new subgenre. Through lineup changes and label challenges, Anthrax continued to evolve their sound, incorporating elements of hip-hop and maintaining a balance of humor and seriousness in their music. After a hiatus, the band returned with Worship Music in 2010, which was praised as a strong comeback.

Following their peak in the late '80s, Anthrax underwent lineup changes and shifts in musical direction, including a period with vocalist John Bush. The band's sound became more conventional, leading to a smaller audience. Despite challenges, Anthrax persisted, releasing albums and embarking on successful tours. Their 11th studio album, For All Kings, was well-received upon its release in 2016.
