Anika Noni Rose

Anika Noni Rose, born on September 6, 1972, is a renowned American actress and singer recognized for her voice work in the animated film The Princess and the Frog. Beginning her acting career in high school, she later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre from Florida A&M University and trained at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. Rose achieved critical acclaim for her role in the Broadway musical Caroline, or Change, winning a Tony Award in 2004. She further gained prominence for her performance in the film Dreamgirls, sharing the screen with top talents like Beyoncé Knowles and Jennifer Hudson. In 2009, Rose made history as the voice of Tiana, Disney's first African-American princess, in The Princess and the Frog. Subsequently, she appeared in popular television series like Power (2014) and The Quad (2017) on BET.
