Angela Aki, a Japanese singer/songwriter known for her piano-based pop/rock sound, gained fame in 2006 after providing a theme song for Final Fantasy XII. Born in 1997 in Japan, Aki received musical education from a young age and eventually pursued a career in music after being inspired by a Sarah McLachlan concert. She released her debut indie record in 2000 before transitioning to the Japanese music scene with the success of her mini-album One in 2005.

Following her collaboration with composer Nobuo Uematsu for Final Fantasy XII, Aki's career skyrocketed with hit singles like "Kiss Me Good-Bye" and "This Love." Her debut Japanese album, Home, solidified her status as a top-tier performer, selling over 500,000 units. Aki continued to achieve success with singles like "Sakura Iro" and her second album, Today, which debuted at the top of the charts in 2007. Amidst her music career milestones, Aki also found time for personal endeavors, including marriage to a person from the music industry.
