Almir Guineto

Almir Guineto, a pioneering figure in the samba genre, was known for introducing the banjo into his music and maintaining a traditional approach to pagode. Hailing from Rio de Janeiro, he began his musical career as a percussionist and composer at the Acadêmicos do Salgueiro samba school. In addition to his successful solo career, Guineto was a founding member of the Fundo de Quintal group and also performed with the Originais do Samba for over a decade. His contributions to Brazilian music continue to resonate, with numerous albums released and accolades won throughout his career.
