Biography

Adam Ant, born Stuart Leslie Goddard, is a key figure in new wave music with a career marked by distinct phases. Initially part of Adam and the Ants, he explored post-punk before transitioning to a pop-oriented, glam-influenced sound that brought chart-topping success. After a brief mainstream phase, he reinvented himself as an adult alternative artist in the '90s, leaving a lasting impact on alternative rock with his pop singles.

Formed in 1977 in London, Adam and the Ants, led by Adam Ant, underwent an image overhaul under manager Malcolm McLaren, leading to commercial success with albums like "Kings of the Wild Frontier" and "Prince Charming." Ant went solo after the Ants era, achieving hits like "Goody Two Shoes" and "Friend or Foe." Despite a shift towards acting, he made a musical comeback in the '90s, showcasing a more mature pop/rock sound with albums like "Wonderful." Ant later revisited his Adam and the Ants roots with releases like "Adam Ant Is the BlueBlack Hussar in Marrying the Gunner's Daughter."
