Biography

6LACK, an alternative R&B/Hip Hop artist, derives his stage name from Atlanta's Zone 6 where he grew up, as well as the spiritual significance of the number six. Born Ricardo Valdez Valentine in 1992 in Baltimore, Maryland, 6LACK began his music career at a young age, transitioning from rap battles to songwriting while drawing inspiration from a diverse range of artists like Sade, Andre 3000, and Lil Wayne. His debut album Free 6lack, released in November 2016, included the hit single "Prblms" which earned him his first platinum record and recognition from Rolling Stone as a standout new artist.

In 2018, 6LACK received Grammy nominations in two categories for Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Rap/Song Performance, showcasing his growing acclaim and success in the music industry.
