Formed in 1996 by three friends from Vitry-sur Seine, a Paris suburb, French hip-hop group 113 emerged under the influence of Mafia K'1 Fry collective. Yohann Duport (A.P.), Karim Brahmi (Rim' K), and Mokobe embraced their African and Maghreban roots, using incisive lyrics to express their immigrant experience. Their debut single "Truc de Fou" in 1998 marked the beginning of their rise in the underground hip-hop scene, leading to commercial success with albums like Les Prince de la Ville (2000) and 113 Degres (2005), which even made it to Billboard's European Top 100.
