Biography
Zbigniew Preisner is a prominent film composer from Poland known for his collaborations with director Krzysztof Kieslowski and scriptwriter Krzysztof Piesiewicz. His acclaimed scores for films such as No End, Dekalog, The Double Life Of Veronique, and the Three Colours Trilogy have gained him international recognition. Preisner has also composed music for films by various directors including Hector Babenco, Louis Malle, and Agnieszka Holland.
In addition to his film work, Preisner has created large-scale compositions like Requiem for My Friend, dedicated to the memory of Krzysztof Kieslowski. He has collaborated with artists such as Teresa Salgueiro and Lisa Gerrard, and worked with David Gilmour on albums like On An Island and Rattle That Lock. Preisner has received numerous awards for his contributions to film music, including the Silver Bear and multiple César awards, as well as recognition from The Los Angeles Critics Association and the Cinema Brazil Grand Prize. In 2018, he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Haifa International Film Festival for his artistic contributions to music in films.
