Biography

Yuzu is a Japanese pop/rock duo formed in 1996 by Kitagawa Yujin and Iwasawa Koji in Yokohama. Originally known as Lights, the duo transitioned from street musicians to professional artists, releasing their debut EP, Yuzu No Su, in October 1997. Over the years, they maintained a consistent recording schedule, with successful releases such as Yuzuman and Yuzu Ikka in 1998, and Tobira in 2000. Their hard work paid off, with Yuzuman selling over 200,000 copies and Yuzu Ikka charting for 17 months.

In 2002, Yuzu returned to a stable recording schedule, releasing multiple albums including Ribbon in 2006. Their best-of compilations in 2005 and 2007 showcased their prolific output, with the 2007 collection, Yuzu No Ne: 1997-2007, entering the Oricon Album Top 80. Collaborating with renowned artists like Hakase Tarou and composer Joe Hisaishi, Yuzu continued to evolve their sound, culminating in the orchestral album Wonderful World in 2008.
