$wingin’ Utter$

Formed in the late '80s, Swingin' Utters emerged as a traditional punk revival band from California, featuring vocalist Johnny, guitarists Max and Darius, bassist Kevin, and drummer Greg. The band relocated from Santa Cruz to San Francisco and gained recognition with their album The Streets of San Francisco in 1995, leading to tours with Rancid and a signing with Fat Wreck Chords. Swingin' Utters released several albums, including A Juvenile Product of the Working Class and Five Lessons Learned, before taking an eight-year break and returning with Here, Under Protest in 2011, followed by Poorly Formed in 2013 and Fistful of Hollow in 2014. In 2017, Fat Wreck released a career-spanning compilation titled Drowning in the Sea, Rising with the Sun.

Throughout their three-decade career, Swingin' Utters experienced shifts in lineup and musical collaborations, contributing to various split releases and touring with bands like the Damned and Dropkick Murphys. The band's discography includes self-titled albums, EPs, and live recordings, showcasing their punk rock sound influenced by proto-punk. Swingin' Utters' enduring presence in the punk scene was celebrated in 2017 with the release of the compilation album Drowning in the Sea, Rising with the Sun, highlighting their evolution and impact over the years.
