Biography

Willy Mason, a singer/songwriter with influences from Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash, emerged on the indie scene at the age of 19. Growing up on Martha's Vineyard, he combined folk music with the political and social messages of Nirvana and Rage Against the Machine. Mason's song "Oxygen" caught the attention of Conor Oberst's associate, leading to collaborations and performances with Oberst's band, Bright Eyes.

His debut album, Where the Humans Eat, released in 2004 by Team Love, received critical acclaim for its lyrical depth and Mason's young age. Tours with artists like Rosanne Cash and My Morning Jacket expanded his fan base, leading to a reissue of the album by Astralwerks in 2006. Mason released his sophomore album, If the Ocean Gets Rough, in 2007, followed by a live performance at the Austin City Limits festival. After a break, he returned in 2012 with Carry On, produced by Dan Carey in London, showcasing a blend of digital rhythms and electric guitars.
