Biography
Childhood friends from Mansfield, Queensland, the four members honed their talents over close to twenty years making music together. Now a revered live act and standing as one of Australia’s biggest bands, Violent Soho released their fifth LP, Everything is A-OK (2020, I OH YOU Records & Pure Noise Records) with more than a touch of irony. Again debuting at #1 on the ARIA charts it came at a time where people in the world needed to hear that everyone was in fact OK. With Australian producer Greg Wales at the helm, the record is Violent Soho at their most honest and self confident.
After announcing an indefinite hiatus in 2022, Violent Soho performed an incredibly special set at Splendour In The Grass and farewelled fans with two sold out nights at Fortitude Music Hall in their home town of Brisbane, declaring, "this cathedral is my home". That’s what’s always been at the heart of Violent Soho: a steadfast refusal to be anything other than who they are. If it means taking time off to be with their families, to write an album only when they’ve got an album worth writing... then so be it: that’s who they are. Violent Soho are still friends from Queensland who just want to shred some riffs, play some shows and make the music they love. So rest assured this isn’t goodbye forever. Stream their new track 'Domestic La La' from their 2015 archives, out now!
